MAGNAPing: Infrastructure Monitoring Made Easy

What makes MAGNAPing unique?

Unlike its competitors, MAGNAPing is installed right where it matters, to monitor from the same point of view as production systems that it is supposed to keep an eye on. And most importantly, it alerts.

Comprehensive monitoring of your IT infrastructure may be a daunting task. It poses many questions and leaves uncertainty about possible solutions and their effectiveness and security. MAGNAPing keeps these considerations in mind, by being the most efficient, secure, well-documented, and flexible solution on the market.

MAGNAPing is the infrastructure monitoring and alerting software that makes things easy for business owners, IT administrators, support, and operations. It is here to give our customers peace of mind. Its comprehensive, 120-page administrator manual contains every detail about the installation, configuration, operation, and extension of the software, so that your staff can be self-sufficient in its utilization.

How it Works

When your infrastructure runs fine, MAGNAPing is watching. When something goes down, MAGNAPing knows and notifies. Its motto is IMME: Infrastructure Monitoring Made Easy. Leave the monitoring to MAGNAPing and focus on growing your business.

Monitoring

MAGNAPing can effectively monitor the following types of resources or endpoints, for both status and/or content:

  • HTTP/HTTPS sites, web services, and web API
  • HTTPS certificate expiry dates
  • FTP/SFTP servers
  • Database servers*
  • IP hosts through ICMP, like good, old ping
  • Drives (local or mounted), directories, files, network shares, and UNC paths
  • Windows event logs
  • Windows services
  • Free drive space
  • Free physical memory (on Windows hosts)
  • CPU utilization (on Windows hosts)
  • External IP address

The resources being monitored can be situated anywhere as long as network connectivity exists between the host that runs MAGNAPing and the destination to be monitored. The topology can be as simple as your home machine that monitors your hosted web site or as complex as a distributed network of web services, database servers, NAS, IP cameras, IOT devices, and Windows, Linux, or other hosts, anywhere in the world.

Notification/alerting

MAGNAPing can notify stakeholders, operations, and support staff through a wide variety of technologies:

This covers most common scenarios of direct notification to support/operations staff orĀ  of automatic creation of incident tickets. MAGNAPing has you covered**.

Security

MAGNAPing keeps the passwords to your resources safely encrypted. It uses strong cryptography of Windows Data Protection API (DPAPI) and stores entropy separately. Even if your adversary manages to steal your MAGNAPing configuration file, then they still cannot gain access to the passwords. It is possible to keep unencrypted passwords in the connection strings, but we discourage this practice. Why expose your secrets, if MAGNAPing takes care of encrypting them on the first use, without any manual intervention?

MGANPing is ideal for highly secure environments as it strives to re-use as much of your existing infrastructure as possible, for failure notifications. It is able to send emails through the existing channels, in many cases. Unlike many competitions, it is installed where it matters and monitors that which matters.

Plugins

The power of MAGNAPing comes from its flexible, plugin-based architecture. Through its plugins, it supports a broad array of technologies and services. In particular, MAGNAPing comes with plugins that can persist its logs to, and source lists of resources to be monitored from, a growing number of database back-ends:

Usually, the versions above are only indicative of our development targets, and in fact MAGNAPing works fine with older and newer versions of the respective servers/services. If it does not, then Zenith Elevate staff is always here to help.

Reliable delivery of notifications is the strongest aspect of MAGNAPing. It comes with plugins that can notify through the following communication technologies, providers, and services:

Work is constantly underway to add more technologies and services to the list of supported channels. We are actively looking into adding more persistency, source, and notification plugins, as they are requested by our customers or as they emerge on the market. You can use the Contact Us link above to get a conversation going about your requests for custom features and extra technologies.

*Requires the purchase of a plugin.
**Some of these methods require that the user buys a subscription from 3d party service providers. It is the user’s responsibility to acquire and maintain these services.
***Included in the base package.

MAGNABoard: Infrastructure Management Made Easy

MAGNABoard stores UNIX/Linux/BSD host definitions and allows the user to select any host, to load its facets (firewall, scheduled tasks, users/groups, packages, and much more) into convenient Windows GUI tabs. Then these hosts can be managed, compared, and synchronized. Its entire operation is performed over SSH authenticated by passwords or public keys.

Configuration data from the Linux hosts can be exported and imported, both through host or client files or clipboard. Lists of IP addresses, MAC addresses, ports, and more can be enabled/disabled on the firewall, in a couple clicks of your mouse or touch gestures.

Do not throw your PuTTY away! You are still going to need it for advanced administration. But basic, repetitive everyday tasks will never again require from you the typing of commands into text terminals.

MAGNAChat: Secure Communication Made Easy

MAGNAChat connects directly to your peer. It does not require or use an intermediary server. It encrypts all media: text messages, voice, video, screenshots, and files, with a strong AES-256 cypher. The key exchange is automatic. By employing the light-weight UDP protocol, it works well even on busy devices that are low on CPU and memory resources and over low-bandwidth networks.

MAGNAText: SMS/MMS Sender

MAGNAText sends SMS or MMS messages, throgh VOIP.MS REST API*. It automatically splits messages longer than 160 characters into up to 3 SMS or sends an MMS for even longer messages. Both GUI and command-line modes are supported.

With MAGNAText, you will be able to quickly send text messages and include content from any Windows application or script.

MAGNAWall: Filtering Platform Audit Event Log Viewer

MAGNAWall is the world’s most user-friendly tool that provides security professionals, system administrators, and software developers with unique insights into the network activities on their firewalled devices. By structuring, visualizing, and filtering audit events logged by the Filtering Platform, it helps pinpoint network activities that require attention. Both GUI and command-line modes are supported.

Whenever it takes experienced network professionals mere minutes to diagnose firewall rule issues, MAGNAWall reduces that time to mere seconds.

* A paid subscription to VOIP.MS service and an activation of API access is required.
